Welcomed conditions deliver great racing

THE Bellerive Yacht Club (BYC) is currently hosting its popular Lewis Marine and Nautilus Marine Insurance Twilight Racing.

Every Wednesday evening during daylight saving months at around 6pm, up to 70 yachts join in social, yet competitive, racing on waters off Bellerive Bluff.

This season has seen enjoyable, mild conditions with light winds and warm air temperatures not usually experienced in October on the River Derwent.

Racing has been very close with 15 yachts in Race 3 hitting the finish line at the one time, which made race officers’ jobs difficult when determining the finishing order.
