SHOPPING, gift-wrapping, festive photos and even a visit from Santa.
The countdown is on and Eastlands is busy preparing for the upcoming festive season.
The celebrations will kick off this year with “Hey, Where’s Santa” on Sunday 29 November, a free family morning that welcomes Santa to the centre.
Families are invited to come along from 10am-1pm and enjoy a range of exciting activities and entertainment, including a meet and greet with Poppy and Branch from the Trolls movie, as well as Santa himself.
Children can track down the roaming elves to get their hands on a number of giveaways and be entertained by balloon twisters, face painters and a few of Santa’s surprise friends.
Also on offer will be a range of one-day specials from centre retailers.
Eastlands marketing manager Jackie Farrelly said it was exciting to be bringing in the festive season this way.
“We can’t wait to see the excitement on the kids’ faces when we ask, ‘Hey, Where’s Santa?’ as he visits the centre,” she said.
The free family event is just one part of Eastlands’ offerings.
Hobart City Mission will be coming on board this year as the 2017 Gift Wrapping partner, with all proceeds from the gift wrapping service donated to the organisation to help the many Tasmanians in need this Christmas.
Hobart City Mission partnership manager Michelle Folder said it was “such a pleasure” to be partnering with Eastlands again, but this time as the gift-wrapping partner.
“Customers can come and visit our volunteers and have their gifts beautifully wrapped for a small donation,” she said.
“The wrapping service will be available from 10am-4pm daily (excluding Sundays) from 9 December, making it even easier to have you parcels wrapped when it suits you.
“We will even be busy wrapping on Christmas Eve.”
Another crowd pleaser, Purrrfect Pet Snaps, will also be back.
Pets are a huge part of the family, so why should they miss out on a photo with Santa.
Pet photos will be taking place over two evenings – 3 December from 5pm-7pm and 4 December from 6pm–8pm.
Pet sessions are allocated and need to be booked through the EventBrite link, which can be found by visiting eastlandssc.com.au.
Eastlands, in conjunction with Variety Tasmania, will also offer special “Quiet Santa” sessions for children with special needs.
A sensory-friendly environment provides low stress and a quiet surrounding, creating an ideal setting for children to meet Santa.
Quiet Santa sessions are also limited and need to be booked through the EventBrite link.
“We are thrilled with this year’s offerings,” Ms Farrelly said.
“The Hey, Where’s Santa free family morning is going to be a perfect launch to the season, with activities and entertainment galore.
“We’ll have everything covered with our ‘12 Days of Giving’ gift card promotion – where you get the chance to win back the amount you’ve purchased on an Eastlands gift card – a mailbox direct to Santa in the North Pole and family and pet photos with Santa.”
