Tasting the many flavours of Tasmania

THE best of Tasmania’s produce was on fine display when hundreds of people from across Australia sampled the state’s finest at the popular Flavours of Tasmania.

Founded in 2002 by Senator Eric Abetz, Flavours of Tasmania has grown into a “must-attend” event in the parliamentary social calendar.

From humble beginnings in a small committee room, the event has now grown to take over the Great Hall in Parliament House.

“More than 400 people from around Australia and the world came to Parliament House in Canberra to sample the very best Tasmania produce and products, with guests placing thousands of dollars worth of orders,” Senator Abetz said.

“This exciting showcase has on offer not only high quality Tasmanian food, wine and spirits, but also Tasmanian tourism and timber products.”

Local businesses Island Berries, Sullivan’s Cove and Riversdale Estate were among those to delight attendees, which included the Prime Minister, ministers and parliamentarians, as well as ambassadors, high commissioners, senior businesspeople, media representatives and public servants.

“The Tasmanian Liberal Senate team is delighted to facilitate this spectacular presentation of all things Tasmanian,” Senator Abetz said.
