Swing into Christmas

The festive spirit was out in full force on Saturday 2 December at Clarence City Council’s ever-popular annual Clarence Swinging Christmas event.

As always the free, family- friendly event was a resounding success with revellers combating the ever-so-slightly brisk air with rugs, picnics and festive drinks.

The Hot Christmas House Band, complete with a full rhythm and horn section, gave everyone’s favourite Christmas tunes a jazzy makeover with a revolving door of stellar guest vocalists including Maria Lurighi, Katy Raucher and Elly Hoyt; while MC Andrew Colrain kept the crowd entertained throughout.

Santa also made an appearance, along with a heroic and entertaining Elvis.

Clarence Mayor Brendan Blomeley said the event was a wonderful way to kick off the festive season.

“It was a pleasure to once again welcome so many people to our beautiful Rosny Farm to celebrate this special time of year,” Mayor Blomeley said.

“It was wonderful to see people of all ages and stages of life enjoy a world-class evening of music and fun together in our beautiful city.”
