Risdon Brook Dam water at lowest level ever

OVER the past few weeks, TasWater has lowered the level of the Risdon Brook Dam to undertake the removal of vegetation around the edge of the dam.

The work is required to maintain the quality of the dam’s drinking water supply.

The water level is now lower than it has ever been and it’s apparent the vegetation has spread further than first thought, requiring more clearing than expected.

TasWater is about to start removing the vegetation, but it’s not yet known how long this will take.

When finished, the dam will be refilled with treated water from Bryn Estyn, again providing a secure backup supply over summer.
