Rehabilitation provider rolls onto the Eastern Shore

THE Eastern Shore will now have increased access to essential rehabilitation products following the establishment of Tasmanian Wheelchair Specialists’ (TWS) first retail store in Bellerive.

Originally operating as a supplier for more than 10-years, TWS offers a range of rehabilitation services and products including wheelchairs and power chairs, scooters, walking aids, hoisting, sleeping, positioning, paediatric and hygiene products, and custom-made equipment.

TWS owner Robert Bradshaw said Bellerive was the ideal location to launch the retail outlet, given an unmet need for rehabilitation services in the area.

“There was a very big demand for a rehabilitation provider on the Eastern Shore, as many special needs or elderly clients were required to travel over the bridge to receive their products, which could be a very nerve-wracking experience,” he said.

“Now they have a local point of contact that offers expert advice, customised equipment and easy parking with disabled access and a designated disabled parking spot.

“We are also located within two-kilometres from the Southern Support School, which means that parents who are looking for specialised equipment for their child, or who are unsure of what they need, can simply drop in for expert advice on our wide range of products.”

TWS stocks top-quality brands such as AC Mobility, R82 Australia, Karma, Sunrise Medical, Smirthwaite, Disabled Equipment Solutions, Rifton, Convaid, Firefly and Mobility Plus.

With the business’ ethos centred on health and wellbeing, Mr Bradshaw said it was important that people received the product best suited to their individual needs.

“TWS operates on a needs basis – yes, we can sell you a wheelchair, but have you looked at all the options and what is most suitable for your situation?” he said.

“We consider all aspects of a person’s lifestyle and living situation before making any recommendations, and with our wide range of products, industry connections and ability to manufacture custom-made equipment, we can find something for everyone.”

TWS is located at 4/96 Clarence Street, Bellerive (within the same complex as Ride Bellerive).
