Peter Pan flies into the Playhouse

TASMANIANS young and old are set to be delighted by well-known characters Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and the Lost Boys in John X’s production of ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’, to be performed at the Playhouse Theatre from 14 to 26 April.

The large cast of 17 includes young actors aged from nine years of age and stars John X as Captain Hook, Isaiah Pritchard as Peter Pan, Elowen Killion-Bridley as Wendy and established local theatre stars including Paul Levett, Helen Cronin and Jeremy Pyefinch.

Peter Pan and Wendy follows on from the string of successful productions in the Playhouse Theatre from director Ben Armitage, including children’s favourites ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and ‘The Secret Garden.’

Mr Armitage said the regular school holiday production had proven popular for families looking for a unique experience during the Easter break.

“Young Hobart audiences love to see the adventure unfold live on the Playhouse stage and we know their parents and grandparents get a lot of enjoyment out of it too,” he said.

“The story follows Peter Pan, a mischievous yet innocent little boy who can fly, and his adventures on the island of Neverland with Wendy and her brothers Michael and John.

“Audiences will be amazed by the set design from award-winning designer Jono Bowling and the adventure will really be brought to life by flying cast members above the Playhouse stage.”

Peter Pan and Wendy was written by JM Barrie and adapted by Doug Rand.
