Oceana celebrates 21-years

By Oceana Aquatic & Fitness

OCEANA Aquatic & Fitness is gearing up to celebrate its 21st birthday in November.

In those 21-years, we have gone through a lot of changes to our facility and the way we do things.

Our gym has had major upgrades in the last 12-months, as has our pool, change rooms and water treatment systems.

Most recently, we opened our new infants teaching pool, but it is the behind-the-scenes work we have been doing with our teachers – along with changes to our systems – that has helped create what we believe is Hobart’s best swim school.

One of the biggest features of our program is the small class size that we run for our beginners.

By limiting these classes to only four children, our teachers are able to spend much more time with each child.

This helps the child be more comfortable when starting out, which is crucial with any child who is new to the water.

We have invested a lot of time in our teacher training program to ensure consistency with teaching and, by learning the Laurie Lawrence way, we know that our teachers are following best practice at all times.

We also track each student’s skill development and provide you with regular emails about what they have learned and what they will be working on next.

This helps our kids to always improve their skills and we reward them with a ribbon, the chance to “ring the bell” and have their photo taken.

In the early days, Oceana was a gym with a small swim school, but in recent times our focus has been on growing that swim school, which has only been possible due to the things outlined above.

So now, not only do we have the best facility for learning to swim, but we also have created what we know are the best team of teachers we have ever had.

We want you to come in and see what makes us different to the other swim schools.

Come in for a free trial lesson in our infants program or do a free assessment for your school-aged child.

Lessons are available seven-days-a-week from 8.30am in our infants programs and from 3pm for our school-aged learn to swim program.

So, get ready for summer and enrol your child at Oceana Swim School today.
