Muddy fundraising fun for senior execs

THREE prominent Tasmanian charity senior executives got down and dirty recently to tackle a 6.5-kilometre mud run in preparation for the upcoming Raw Challenge Tasmania public obstacle race.

The Raw Challenge Tasmania Charity Pre-Run saw MyState senior manager – financial planning Todd Kennedy, Variety Tasmania general manager Luke Doyle and RSPCA general manager Peter West navigate up to 30 obstacles including mud baths, giant walls, shipping containers and underground tunnels.

The event raised a total of $1000 for the three charities, which was then matched by a further $1000 from Raw Challenge Tasmania.

Raw Challenge Tasmania owner and operator Kirri Brazendale said the Charity Pre-Run was a “fantastic event” that raised valuable support for the three local charities.

“The Pre-Run is a fantastic way to kick off some fundraising and it was great to watch the senior executives all supporting each other,” she said.

“The event is similar to the Raw Challenge but on a smaller scale, which means there is a much closer atmosphere.

“The participants were led around the course by myself and Cody Barratt and we made sure that nobody came out clean.”

Ms Brazendale said the senior executives “loved” the experience and that the new obstacles were a “huge hit.”

“It was the perfect amount of fun, fitness and mud,” she said.

The 2017 Raw Challenge Tasmania public obstacle race will be held on 25 March at the Baskerville Raceway.
