Making a difference at Rosny LINC

PEOPLE of all ages and backgrounds volunteer with LINC Tasmania, bringing their unique experience, enthusiasm and knowledge to the role.

Rosny LINC manager Jane McGregor says.

“Volunteers not only get to make a difference in their local community, but also receive the chance to learn exciting new skills,” she said.

“Our volunteers make an invaluable contribution to our programs and services, enriching the lives of many in the community.”

LINC Tasmania connects Tasmanians to learning and information, their history and communities.

Volunteers work side-by-side with paid staff to help people access library and learning services.

Volunteers help deliver activities and services at Rosny LINC by:

  • Helping people improve their reading, writing and maths.
  • Helping people with their computer-related needs.
  • Delivering library items to people in their homes.
  • Supporting community learning activities.
  • Helping out with children’s activities.
  • Helping with displays and events.

Ruby, who has been volunteering at LINC for more than two-years, said volunteering kept her active and engaged.

“I get to talk to people, help them out and contribute to the community,” she said.

“I believe volunteers need to have good people skills and need to be supportive and encouraging.”

This year, Rosny LINC is welcoming more community members to its team of inspiring volunteers.

If you are interested in this rewarding experience, Rosny LINC is inviting people to come along to an information session to learn more about the many opportunities people have to volunteer.

The information session will be held on Tuesday 6 March at 6pm.
