Lindisfarne Cricket Club receives valuable boost

THE Lindisfarne Cricket Club has received a boost in funding after receiving its second cheque as part of a two-year CommBank Cricket Club Sponsorship.

Staff from the Commonwealth Bank Rosny Park branch met with the Lindisfarne Cricket Club in late November to advance the two-year partnership, which includes financial funding, cricket gear and merchandise.

Now in its third year, the Commbank Cricket Club Sponsorship program provides clubs with two-years of funding worth $2000 each year, along with new equipment for training and matches.

Lindisfarne Cricket Club secretary Kevin Thomas said the sponsorship was a “fantastic” way to support local cricket clubs.

“Local clubs, together with councils and Cricket Tasmania/Australia, provide the opportunity for the young and old to partake in an active, healthy, social and fun national game,” he said.

“However, this comes at a significant cost and without support, such as CommBank’s sponsorship, it would be difficult to offer the level and breadth of cricket opportunities currently being delivered.

“The funding provided to our club through the sponsorship is being used to improve our infrastructure to make the game more accessible and enjoyable for the community at large.

“The Lindisfarne Cricket Club is very thankful to CommBank for continuing to support community cricket.”

CommBank is Cricket Australia’s longest-standing partner and has provided close to one million dollars worth of funding over the past four-years to local cricket clubs.

CommBank’s support of the game is focused primarily on grassroots clubs, the women’s national team, indigenous cricketers and players with disability.

Commonwealth Bank Rosny Park branch manager Emily Orbell said the organisation was “delighted” to lend its support to the Lindisfarne Cricket Club.

“It’s been great to be able to help the Lindisfarne Cricket Club because we know they do an excellent job in supporting local cricketers,” she said.

“They are clearly very worthy recipients of our sponsorship and we’re thrilled to have established a partnership with them.”

Applications for the 2017 CommBank Cricket Club Sponsorships are now open to local cricket clubs across Australia.
