Howrah kindies launch into learning

LITTLE learners and their parents have transformed Howrah Kindergarten into a hive of activity following the start of the school’s new “Launching into Learning” program.

This year’s program, which is facilitated by kindergarten teachers Jocelyn Fraser and Purdie Reason on Wednesday mornings from 9.15-10.30am, offers a range of learning opportunities for children aged up to four-years.

The Launching into Learning sessions will run alongside the pre-kindergarten classes for students already enrolled to attend Howrah Kindergarten in 2018.

The sessions will provide a range of outdoor and classroom-based activities in an engaging and age-appropriate environment.

Activities will enable parents and their carers to engage with their children and assist in the development of language, literacy, numeracy, fine and gross motor skills.

An additional Launching into Learning session will also run on Fridays from 9.15-10.30am and will focus on making connections with the school and local community.

Once a fortnight, these sessions will be held in the school library to give children the opportunity to borrow a book to read and share with an adult, as well as participate in whole group reading, singing and movement sessions.

On the alternating fortnight, sessions will be held in the community and include a visit to Howrah Beach and Wentworth Park.

For more information about session timetables or brochures, phone the Howrah Primary School office on 6246 6333.
