Garden Party brings community together

HOWRAH Bowls Club was transformed into a colourful spring garden for its inaugural Garden Party on Sunday, 20 September.
The event brought club members and guests together for an afternoon of food, conversation and community spirit, with flowers, decorative hats and homemade treats adding to the festivities.
Clarence Deputy Mayor Allison Ritchie attended alongside fellow councillor Emma Goyne and congratulated the club on organising the event.
“The club had been transformed into a beautiful spring garden. There were colourful flowers, wonderful hats, a glass of bubbles on arrival and tables full of homemade finger food and sweet treats,” Ms Ritchie said.
“But what made the afternoon so special was seeing the club buzzing with conversation and laughter.
“Events like this give people a chance to catch up with friends, meet others and feel part of their community.”
Ms Ritchie praised the club’s committee and volunteers for the time and effort they put into organising the Garden Party, from the decorations and flowers to the catering.
“An enormous amount of time, creativity and effort went into making the Garden Party such a success,” she said.
“The volunteers thought of every detail, and their work was appreciated by everyone who attended.”
Ms Ritchie also acknowledged club Patroness Bernice Archer and Patron Alan Beardwood for their ongoing support.
She said the event highlighted the important role local sporting clubs play in bringing people together beyond the sporting field.
“Congratulations to everyone at Howrah Bowls Club on a wonderful first Garden Party,” she said.
“It was a lovely celebration of the people who make the club such a welcoming place, and I hope it becomes a regular event.”
