CWA Lindisfarne celebrates 85 years

MEMBERS past and present have celebrated 85 years of friendship, service and community spirit at the CWA Lindisfarne Branch.
The milestone anniversary was celebrated at the Howrah Community Centre earlier this month, bringing together current and former members, family and friends to reflect on the branch’s history and contribution to the Clarence community.
Established in 1941, the branch has spent more than eight decades bringing people together, supporting the local community and building lasting friendships.
Clarence Mayor Brendan Blomeley congratulated the branch on reaching the milestone and acknowledged the generations of women who had contributed over the years.
“Reaching 85 years is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the commitment, resilience and generosity of everyone who has been part of the Lindisfarne Branch over the years,” Mayor Blomeley said.
“The CWA has a long history of bringing people together, supporting local communities and creating lasting friendships. Those values are just as relevant today as they were when the branch was established in 1941.”
Mayor Blomeley said the branch’s contribution had extended well beyond its own membership.
“The Lindisfarne Branch has made a lasting difference to the Clarence community by supporting people through challenging times, celebrating local successes and creating opportunities for people to connect,” he said.
“Reaching an 85-year milestone is something every past and present member should be incredibly proud of.
“The branch has built a wonderful legacy, and I have no doubt it will continue to make a positive contribution to our community for many years to come.”
