| Easts a major force in under-14 rugby |

THE Eastern Suburbs Rugby Club at Warrane, currently ladder leaders midway through the season, has a number of strong representatives in the Tasmanian under-14 representative rugby team playing a home and away series next month. ![]() From left, Chris Williams, Zac Prouse-Bailey, Jake Hyland and Michael Frost. (Absent Kristian Michael, Josh Jarvie and Jake Calvo). Under-14 team coach David Compton said his side had the best chance in years of upsetting the Victorians. "We have a big, mobile forward pack matched with a skilful, aggressive backline. Big things are expected of this squad," he said. The under-14 team is playing Victorian schools’ representative team in Launceston on 16 and 17 August, and in Melbourne on 13 and 14 September. Three Easts players, Calvo, Frost and Hyland, played in the team last year, and have an excellent rugby future ahead of them. Those are forming part of the leadership group for this year's squad. The squad (with Club of origin) is as follows: Easts: Jake Calvo, Michael Frost, Josh Jarvie, Kristian Michael, Zak Prouse-Bailey, Jake Hyland and Christopher Williams. Launceston: Luke Edson, Jesse Flakemore, Samuel Goldsmith, Mitchell Hunt , George Ison and Latif Ucdereli. Glenorchy: Nili Filea, Jack Lette, Patrick Thollar. Devonport: James Mack, Thomas Scarfe. Taroona: Reuben Mcconnochie , Max Weidenbach and Ross Nightingale. Hutchins: Conor Westbury.
