YOU’LL recall we ran a story earlier this year about Wirksworth in Derbyshire in the UK. We were contacted by Phil Richards of Wirksworth in Derbyshire in the UK who stumbled across an article we ran about Wirksworth House in Bellerive, when he googled Wirksworth looking for more information about his own region. “Those of us who live here were pretty sure our town was unique and now we find we have a link in Tasmania,” Phil said in his email correspondence to our paper at the time. Continuing that relationship, we recently had further correspondence from Phil who said that while he hadn’t uncovered any more leads about our Wirksworth House he thought we would be interested in this little gem. Judy Jones, an old friend of his from Wirksworth (UK) had a visit from Jenny Jones a distant cousin, who is now living in Tasmania with her husband in Oatlands.  Jenny Jones with her copy of the Community Fayre newsletter outside Wirksworth in Bellerive. Jenny Jones saw our story and on her return to Tasmania had her photograph taken outside Wirksworth House in Bellerive holding a copy of Derbyshire’s Wirksworth’s Community Fayre newsletter, and sent it back to her cousin Judy. Seems the fascination of the two Wirksworths continues.
