Breast cancer awareness supports is a real delight
THE owners of Bakers Delight in Lindisfarne are absolutely delighted with its recent breast awareness campaign  held as a ‘family day’ on Mothers Day this year .
There was plenty of fun, including a visit by Bakers Delight Breadhead, during the Mothers Day breast cancer awareness day on the forecourt of Bakers Delight Lindisfarne.

Grant and Jasmine Hopwood who run the very busy Bakers Delight in Lindisfarne said the special national fund-raising campaign was a great success with $2165 raised in Lindisfarne alone. In fact the effort topped the national average of Bakers Delight stores around the country.
Grant and Jasmine decided to do just a bit more than others in the network this year and focused on a number of family attractions which helped to raise money for breast cancer research.

The bakery joined with Lindisfarne Village Gourmet Meats and offered a sausage sizzle.  There was also a chocolate wheel and had a very popular jumping castle which was set up on the forecourt of the shop. Special pink lady cardboard cut outs were also on sale in the shop and were displayed on the walls as people purchased them with their bread products.

“We really have to thank the fantastic local businesses who all gave their support through donations to our chocolate wheel,” Grant and Jasmine said.  “Every business in Lindisfarne supported us which was a really great gesture on their part.   We were really bowled over with the response.”

“We really have a wonderful sense of community and it was really fantastic to see how everyone came together to support the event.  We are very grateful for this support from businesses right through to the residents who came along on the day and spent money for the cause.”

Grant and Jasmine are delighted that their efforts in their community have been recognised with a franchisee of the year award nomination.

As Eastern Shore Sun went to press, Grant and Jasmine were completing their nomination details for the award.

“We are delighted that the Lindisfarne franchise is being recognised this way.  Just being nominated is a great honour for us,” Grant said.

Meanwhile, the bakery is also looking forward to introducing a range of new scones including a delicious blueberry and white chocolate scone along with a wholemeal and oats healthy option.  Of course Grant said that Bakers Delight’s popular exotic scones of dried apple, peach, pawpaw, pineapple and dates blended with honey are always a treat.
