Lindisfarne community to have a say in village upgrade
CLARENCE City Council is seeking community input into the future enhancement of Lindisfarne Village as part of council’s Lindisfarne village streetscape project. Clarence Mayor Jock Campbell said the aim of the streetscape project was to provide a framework for the implementation of streetscape improvements including landscaping, paving, public art, lighting, seating, shelters and public facilities.

“The project also aims to attract more businesses to the area and to beautify the village centre, making it an enjoyable and safe place for the community to live, work and shop,” Alderman Campbell said.

The draft report has been prepared following discussions with business owners in the area on the general appearance of the village as well as traffic, parking and safety.

Council is now seeking views from both business and the broader community about the various options included in the streetscape project.

“Improvements to the Lindisfarne streetscape are part of an ongoing program by council to provide improved amenities and introduce renewal to this important area of the city.”
