| Parents and children learning together at Rokeby |
ROKEBY Primary School is offering parents of children birth to five an opportunity to capture their child’s development.
For the past year or so Rokeby has offered weekly activities and experiences such as swimming, motor program, playgroup and story rock and rhyme for families with young children and has now added another service to parents. ![]() Steven and Derrick Smith playing together. Steven comes into the birth to five program each week to help out while the mums scrapbook. He loves having the chance to play with his brother. Throughout each week, staff and older students take photographs of each child participating in a range of activities and document some of the key learning that is happening. These photos are then made available to parents at monthly scrap-booking sessions. The school provides all materials and lessons and parents can sit and learn a new hobby while their children are playing with older students in the same fully equipped room. All birth to four programs are open to all families in the community and new faces are always welcome. Initiatives like this are ensuring that Rokeby is truly providing for ‘Lifelong Learning’ for children and adults alike. For more information, contact Sharon Coad or Ros Bain on 62478398.
