| Beltana club bowls them over |
THE Beltana Bowls Club has enjoyed a fantastic season with the highlight, the state premiership win. The Beltana Bowls Club’s division three side as state premiers The club was also presented with the club of the year trophy by Bowls Tasmania South (BTS). Beltana’s division three side won the state pennant final in Launceston recently defeating the premier sides in the north and north-west of the state. The club’s division four side lost the grand final narrowly and the ladies’ division four side won the BTS premiership. The club was delighted with what was an excellent a good result from only five teams participating in pennant bowls. It is confidently expected that the club will field more pennant sides next year. At the BTS presentation night the club was a very proud winner of the Fitzgerald Trophy as best bowls club in the south. This included all areas of club activity and performance. Popular member Billy Stuart, took over as green keeper resulting in excellent greens which attracted state and southern championships and major pennant finals. The past season has been one of resurgence and is seen as a springboard for future sustained success at the club .
