Greetings from far lands
ROSNY College is boasting the fact that more than 10 different languages are spoken by students studying at the college, who have from different parts of the world. The students in the ‘English as a second language’ class have started to record some useful phrases in the own languages, which other Rosny College staff and students are  now attempting to master. The languages recorded are Chinese, Korean, Kiswahili, Kirundi and Kinyarwanda. Kiswahili, Kirundi and Kinyarwanda are languages spoken in countries such as Burundi, Tanzania, Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The College hopes to have a bank of useful phrases by the end of the year to share with the whole college.

The recordings also coincide with Languages Week at Rosny College which was held from May 16 - 21.

Languages Week will celebrate languages spoken and taught at Rosny College and students will have a chance to taste food,  participate in cultural activities and experience languages from many of our international students’ home countries.

You can listen to a ‘Phrase of the week’ on the Rosny College website.

The website is  www.rosny.tased.edu.au/ and click on News and Events.  The phrase is Hello, how are you? (English); ni hao, nihaoma? (Chinese); an yueng, haseyo? (Korean); yambu amahoro? (Kirundi); bite byawe ni sawa? (Kinyarwanda) and Jambo, sana? (Kiswahili).
