Homeless girls and women benefit from Zonta
HOMELESS girls and women stand to benefit from the decision of the Zonta Club of Hobart East to assist this needy group within the community.

This follows a decision by the club that for this year the majority of funds raised will be channelled through welfare organisations that provide direct assistance to homeless girls and women.
The first funding grant will be made shortly thanks to an extremely successful fund raising quiz night.

The quiz night was held at the Italian Club in North Hobart and attracted up to 150 people of all ages.

The entrance fee was $12 per person and there were lots of prize donations for the evening.

President Lois Green said the night was a great success and was likely to become an annual event.

“Everyone really enjoyed the night and it raised a fantastic amount for such a wonderful cause,” Lois said.

The quiz night was the first but is likely to be an annual activity because of the strong result.

“Other fundraisers will be held during the year with an aim of providing further funding grants for this needy community service,” she said.

Women interested in joining Zonta in its community service are invited to email the club at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or telephone Lois Green on 6260 4153.
