Nando's has opened in the theatre complex opposite Eastlands. I haven't been there yet, but all accounts I have heard have been very positive. Its speciality is peri peri chicken, but there are many other dishes to order from the menu, and it is licensed. There are very few pubs where you can get good "pub grub" in the city however, the Central Cafe in Collins Street is doing a pretty good job. It's worth a look. I tend to opt for the specials board, because it changes all the time, but the set menu is fine too. Farewell to the Astor Grill last month, and I hope some budding entrepreneur takes up the lease. It is a splendid room and I have had many memorable meals there. One that springs to mind is the dinner with Jim Maxwell from ABC sport and Terry Alderman the former fabulous bowler for Australia. Pecora on top of the Grandvewe Cheese place at Birchs Bay closed for Katrina Birchmeier and Luke Burgess in March. A bit sad, as Luke is a top chef who did some wonderful things. I wish them well in the future after they have had a well earned break. And the word is we are about to see a changing of the lease at the Hope and Anchor Hotel in the city, which, along with many other pubs in Tasmania, claims to be the longest licensed premises in the state.
