| Twilight Bowls a great success |
THE popularity of lawn bowls has once again been proven by the recent success of Twilight Bowls run by the Howrah Bowls Club.
In particular the club was delighted with the age group attracted - predominantly in the age range 25 to 40. In fact some of the bowlers brought their young children along making a real night out.![]() Although the teams put everything into the competition they also had lots of fun. The coordinator of the club’s Twilight Bowls, Chris Watts said that the first trial of twilight bowls was in spring last year and due the great response it was decided to continue in the new year. He said that in the autumn series 120 people were involved in the competition, which is the maximum number that the facilities would allow. “It’s obvious that there is a strong interest in lawn bowls from all ages, and it is important that we provide people with the opportunity to play at times that suit them,” Mr Watts said. Twilight bowls will again be held next spring after daylight saving starts. Anyone seeking further information should visit the web site www.howrahbowls.com.au Mr Watts said that 14 teams had expressed interest in twilight bowls for next spring, and any others interested should consider registering now. Registration forms are on the website. Those keen to continue bowling over the winter months can play bowls at the Howrah Club at 11 Howrah Rd on Sunday afternoons.
