Celebrating positive ageing
PLENTY of food, exercise, relaxation and socialising will be on the menu for Clarence seniors during April. The April celebration calendar outlines a huge range of activities for seniors, and also includes a regular activities and contacts section to keep seniors up-to-date throughout 2008.

The calendar is an innovation of the Clarence Positive Ageing Advisory Committee (CPAAC), a group of senior community residents and key service providers with a wide variety of backgrounds on the eastern shore.

The community is invited to the launch of the Calendar on Sunday 30 March at 2pm at the Rosny Farm. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided.

Some of the special activities on offer during April include walks, barbecues, open days, crafts, social bowls, morning teas and much more.

Deputy Mayor of Clarence and CPAAC chairman, Alderman Doug Chipman said the committee produced the calendar to showcase and promote the variety of pursuits that are available to older people in Clarence.

“The calendar is designed so that people can see what’s on at a glance over the entire month of April as well as other special events that are coming up,” Ald Chipman said.

“We have also designed it to be a handy reference, as most of these activities will continue throughout the year.

“The April celebration calendar is a practical way to keep older people connected with the community, ensuring they have real lifestyle choices, and maintaining their involvement in the life of the City.”
