MV Southern Cross Lake Burley Griffin Cruise (02 6273 1784)
I headed off to Canberra at the end of last year for my mum's 85th birthday. My mum, who can't swim, had decided on the MV Southern Cross Dinner Cruise on Lake
Burley Griffin. The day could only be described as hysterical in the lead up to the cruise. One of the grandchildren lost her mobile phone in Melbourne on her way to the event. Her twin located the phone many hours later in Melbourne at the airport.

Another grandchild was stuck on a bus in one of the tunnels out of Sydney.

Amazingly, we all ended up on the lake for a very fine dinner. I know someone who was once famous said "never eat on anything that revolves or floats": well, this meal knocked everyone out.

Choices in the entrees were either Caesar salad or Thai beef salad.
Tasmanian-sourced Atlantic salmon fillet or chicken supreme were the main choices.
The two great grandchildren stunned everyone when they knocked back desserts which were lemon meringue tart or berry cheesecake. We were on the cruise around the lake for three hours, including a stop at the Carillon to hear the bells at 9 p.m. If you are off to Canberra, this cruise is worth the effort. At twilight you also get to see lots of the art works on the foreshores of the lake.

I'm off the Canberra in October and this sounds like a fun way to see it.
