Tynwald, Hobart Rd New Norfolk 6261 2667
AT the time the Eastern Shore Sun is going to press, Tynwald is doing a degustation dinner for $75/person.

Get a group together and go there. It's a wonderful dining experience. There are two chefs in the kitchen, Pat and Garry, and they know what they are doing. It is also open for a la carte dining each night and for Sunday lunch. You must book.

New Norfolk now has seven antique shops, so after a browse in the shops, Sunday lunch at Tynwald is a wonderful idea. The house is beautiful. We did just that last month. Met at the door by a beautiful peacock, which Garry, one of the owners, couldn't believe I hadn't picked the name - Andrew - and then we met Andrew's peahen partner, Zelda! I am sure Susan would have been miffed.

The menu changes all the time. We had the house baked bread (which on this occasion was full of olives and delicious). I had the medallions of pork fillet on grilled gnocchi with some superb asparagus ($18) and my friend had leg portions of hare braised in red wine, also on grilled gnocchi ($18). The meals arrived with a plate of steamed vegetables as well, so there was no hope of getting to the sticky date and ginger pudding or the roasted coconut with lemon sorbet and coconut wafer. It was a very memorable and delicious lunch.
