Eastlands now boasts five- star parenting facilities
THE Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) recently awarded Eastlands Shopping Centre’s upper level parent’s room with a five-star rating, making it the only shopping centre in Hobart with the highest level of accreditation.

Centre manager Craig Connell attaining the rating for the upper level room along with the three-star rating for the lower level room as an excellent result for Eastlands.

Eastlands centre manager, Craig Connell awarded the five-star accreditation by Christina Galloway of the Australian Breastfeeding Association.

“We have been working hard to make sure Eastlands is Tasmania’s leading shopping centre by adding a new shopping mall, enhancing the retail mix and additional car parking spaces.

“Now the upgrade of the upper level parent’s rooms, and the accreditation by the ABA, gives Tasmanian families even more reasons to visit Eastlands,” Mr Connell said.

The recent upgrade of the upper level parent’s room included the relocation of the room, the installation of new facilities and furniture including two new breastfeeding chairs which meet ABA standards.

“Eastlands is now the only shopping centre in the Greater Hobart area with a five-star rated parent’s room, and in addition Eastlands offers two parenting rooms, conveniently located on each level.”

ABA accredited parent’s room must be a convenient, quiet, private and comfortable place to feed, as well as clean and safe to change nappies.  Rooms must be smoke free and provide access to hot and cold water and waste disposal.

Five-star parent’s rooms need to meet additional ABA requirements, including air-conditioning, toys or a secure play area for children and provide access to a high chair, microwave and toddler toilet.
