HOWRAH Primary School student Jacqui Walker achieved outstanding results in the recent University of New South Wales English competition. ![]() Jacqui Walker, centre, sharing her love of reading with fellow students from the Grade 2 Buddy Class from left, Isaac Reeve, Max Connolly, Ella Roberts and Courtenay McGuire. The assessment conducted annually for students across Australia and 12 other countries attracted more than 1.5 million entries internationally. The English test assesses a student’s knowledge of all facets of English. Jacqui Walker achieved a high distinction and the highest score in Tasmania. Recently Jacqui received a medal honouring and recognising her outstanding success. Although Jacqui is very modest about her success her achievement didn't come as a total surprise. Staff and students at Howrah are already aware of how talented she is as she was one of a team of six students who recently represented Howrah Primary School and Tasmania in the national finals of the Tournament of the Minds in the language and literature division in Canberra. Jacqui writes enthusiastically and enjoys reading lots of good books between her sporting commitments. She particularly enjoys opportunities to participate in drama performances.
