Wentworth Pharmacy helping you with your children’s health
EASTERN Shore parents will be delighted with a new weekly child health service available at the Wentworth Pharmacy in Clarence Street.

Sonia Free, who is a registered child/family health nurse, is now available on Tuesdays from 10am to provide help for parents who need health advice about their children whether they are newborn or up to five years of age.

Sonia, who is also a qualified midwife, says parents often have many health-related questions about their children and find the convenience of talking to specialists in a one-on-one situation at their local pharmacy much easier  to access and more comfortable to deal with.

“Appointments are not necessary and I am ready and willing to help parents who feel they need advice or reassurance with their children.

“Questions often relate to growth and development as well as sleep and how parents can help in settling their children, particularly at night.”

Sonia said that infant massage was an effective method of helping children who were problem sleepers.

As a qualified infant massage instructor, Sonia can provide instruction in massage techniques that both mothers and fathers can use.

“The benefits of baby massage are in settling babies who are poor sleepers, as well as for babies who have developed colic.

“Dads can get involved in the sessions as well and we can have one-on-one sessions as well as accommodate groups of up to four or five people.

Sonia can also provide advice on nutrition and a baby’s growth and development with breast and formula feeding as well as how to introduce solids into their diet.

Babies are weighed and measured at the pharmacy and parents given advice on their growth requirements if necessary.

“I love helping parents with any child health issues and am more than happy to talk about all sorts of concerns from nutrition and fussy eaters through to child behaviour problems such as bedwetting.  Obviously if I believe there is need for further referrals I will recommend this to parents.”

If you would like to talk about your child health issues then ask for Sonia at the Wentworth Pharmacy on Tuesdays from 10 am.
