New assembly hall for Richmond’s St John’s School
A NEW multi-purpose assembly hall has been opened at St John’s School Richmond. The multi-purpose hall worth almost $1 million will allow St John’s to hold larger school assemblies, and also use it to incorporate multiple classes for some lessons.

“These outstanding facilities will ensure all students at St John’s School can engage in basic school assemblies, while hosting other student and parental activities,” Senator Guy Barnett said.

He officially opened the new facilities on behalf of the Australian Government Minister for Education, Science and Training, the Hon Julie Bishop MP. The project was funded by the Australian Government under the Capital Grants Program  ($681,550), with a contribution by  the school community of $249,272.

In 1999 the Australian Government gave the school $383,027 for a new library and student resource centre, and other administration facilities, and last year the Government gave $20,000 towards a new playground surface at the school.

“This level of funding ensures that St John’s school community is able to offer students first rate education options well into the future,” Senator Barnett said.
