With women’s soccer being one of the fastest growing sports in the world the eastern region of the Junior Soccer Association is trying to increase participation by girls.

Girls play soccer in the early age groups but some tend to drop out from under nine years of age upwards when playing in mixed competition.

The eastern region in cooperation with Michelle Castle from Nelson Football Club and Roxanne McIntyre from Clarence United FC, is conducting a series of clinics and games on Sunday mornings.

These sessions are conducted by women coaches from Clarence and Nelson and are aimed at grade 5 and 6 girls not currently playing soccer but all are welcome.

The sessions are being held at Edgeworth St, Warrane every Sunday morning from 10-11am until the early September.

The cost is $35 for all of the sessions and  boots and shin pads required.
