There are 20 charter members in the club, 15 of whom were present to join in the festivities. Charter president is Margot Patten who was presented with her jewel and collar by her husband Mike Patten president of the Rotary Club of Lindisfarne. Margot is also a member of the Lindisfarne Rotary club. The new club has received assistance from at least three Rotary clubs in the area and is keen to establish relationships with the other clubs.

Inner Wheel is one of the largest women’s service clubs in the world and has a membership of more than 100,000 women in more than 80 countries. The three main objects of Inner Wheel are to promote true friendship, encourage the ideals of personal service and to foster international understanding.

Inner Wheel Australia is currently heavily involved with raising funds for Cord Blood Bank Research and to date has raised almost $100,000 which has been given to young scientists who are undertaking research into the area of cord blood. Any female who is connected to a Rotarian or Inner Wheel member is eligible to join and currently there are three clubs in the south of the state. The Claremont and Clarence clubs meet on the fourth Thursday evening of the month and Hobart Sunset meets on the second Monday night in the month.
