Ray who is the new president, took over the reins of the club in November last year and wife Virginia followed shortly after taking over the position of treasurer.  Since then they have been working with their Board to build membership and develop member programs to increase membership and encourage the local community to support the club.

“We are keen to see more people come on board to help our small team build up the club and see our teams go from strength to strength,” Ray said.

To that end, a regular series of president’s lunches has been held since the start of the season. A highlight has been the visit by Bulldogs’ coach Rodney Eade  at a sportsman’s night recently.

“It was a fantastic night at the Beltana and everyone who came had a great night.  Rodney was an excellent speaker and everyone who came had a great time enjoying his footy stories and memories.

“We want to see more of this, but do need help and would love to see more people get involved at the organisational level.

“Our sponsorship officer Scott Devine has been doing a tremendous job and others in the club are working to make sure the on-field play and off-field activities are good for everyone who loves their football.”

Ray said that this year the club was boasting a young and enthusiastic team and had been training hard to make an impact on the field.

“They are a great bunch of young guys and we are really delighted with how they are progressing,” Ray said.

Ray and Virginia are Lindisfarne stalwarts and have been living in the area all of their lives, so getting involved in the club was a natural progression.

“We love what we are doing because we know how much it is helping our local community.

“At the same time I am grateful for the help we have received.  Even cricket has been great to us, with the Tasmanian Cricket Association giving us a signed autograph bat of the winning Pura Cup team which we auctioned at our recent sportsman’s night.

“However if there are people out there who are either retired or semi-retired, we would really like to encourage them to join us to make this the best football club on the Eastern Shore.”

If you would like to become involved phone Ray or Virginia on 6243 0835 / 6264 1102 or the secretary Trevor Bailey 0419 896 041.
